Excellent service!! Amazing tacos, great salsa and guacamole a there soups are very flavorful and I must say shrimp is absolutely delicious!!
Sit out side and take in the views of the beautiful breath taking Isabella Lake!!
We went out trying to play with the toys in the river ...well weather made that a bummer started to pour so we packed up and headed to get some dinner. Not many choices around here.
Excellent service very friendly !!!food came out fast!!! Albondigas were not bad . Chips and salsa at arrival . Everything else was tasty too !
Called the restaurant at 150pm on the Fourth of July to ask if they were open and the gal on the phone told me they close at 230pm. We show up at 205pm and they tell us they are closed. I say, "you just told me on the phone you close at 230?". The gal says "I didn't pick up the phone", looks around and asks the other gals- "did you guys tell her 230 on the phone?" All of them give her a blank stare. As I walk out for the last time, even the sign says 'We will ne closing at 230pm on the Fourth of July'. LOL. Not to mention the gal was a total bitch when I called back to make sure I had originally called El Portal, as they were suggesting I must've called somewhere else. Rude and incompetent employees are reasons not to return.
I ate at El Portal Mexican Grill for the first time today, and I was very impressed with my overall experience.
The building is decorated nicely, and the guest area was clean.
My waitress was friendly, polite and attentive, despite being the only server for several tables, to go orders and telephone duties.
The El Portal enchiladas were all excellent.
I started with the beef, it was mild and flavorful.
The chili verde was next. I was surprised by the slight kick of spice at the end.
Of the three that come on the plate, the chicken was my least favorite, but only because I don't like chicken as much as beef or pork.
The complimentary chips and salsa were also great, I enjoyed the salsa because it has large chunks, good flavor and it is slightly spicy.
For me, a few minor things would have made my visit 5 stars:
1) the tableware is very lacking in substance, and is uncomfortable
2) the restaurant was too quiet. There were 4 tables, but everyone was whispering because it felt like you were disturbing the other guests if you were to speak at a normal volume.
3) have hot sauces at the tables
Thanks for the great meal!
We went in on Thursday night at 7:40 on 1/10/19 Not realizing that they close at eight. I'm sorry to say I seem to have forgotten the waitresses name. The waitresses were totally awesome and made us feel completely at ease while we were there. We were the only ones there and once we figured out that they were close to closing we tried to get our food to go so they could leave but they refused. They insisted that we sit and enjoy our meal. The food was awesome and the portions were huge. We both got burritos and they came out piping hot smothered in cheese and sauce. We were going to be with both the food and service and will definitely be returning.
